Here are the slides from a short presentation I gave about my ongoing Austin graffiti archives project, for which I did a run-through ingestion in ArchivesSpace for my summer class, Lifecycle Metadata for Digital Objects with Dr. Danielle Plumer. Obviously, the presentation was more robust than what you see here, but these slides do provide an overview of a few of the challenges of such a project, including defining a controlled vocabulary for graffiti. In this, I am indebted to my fellow MSIS student Rachel Panella, who is also working on these issues over at Austin Graffiti Project.
I hope to do more work in this area soon. Meanwhile, follow my graffiti blog, Conspicuous Blankness, and please do let me know of any other similar projects!
